ALOR SETAR – Despite drawing 1-1 against Sabah FC in their Super League match last night, Kedah Darul Aman FC head coach Aidil Sharin Sahak viewed his team’s performance as positive compared to their previous matches.

He said that could be a catalyst for the Canaries to record better results in future matches after their recent string of erratic performances.

“Tonight’s result is a positive indication even though some key players were not fielded due to injury. All the fielded players played with commitment and showed an increasingly good game pattern.

“It was not an easy match but the team were determined to win and the players played well to create three chances, but failed to translate them into goals. This is football, we have to look ahead and try to improve our weaknesses,” he said.

Aidil said this to reporters after the match at the Darul Aman Stadium here, last night.

Commenting further on the match, Aidil said some of the young players who were brought back showed compatibility and managed to dominate the game, especially in the first half.

He also said they played in an orderly and disciplined manner which enabled them to dominate many positions and launch dangerous attacks on the opposing team’s goal.

“This match was challenging and in the first half we played well and smoothly, we managed to dominate the game, but in the second half we lost consistency. Nevertheless, the team’s performance was better than before,” he said.

Meanwhile, Sabah FC head coach Datuk Ong Kim Swee said he was satisfied with his players’ determination in last night’s match.

He said the fielded players managed to control the game and create many chances, but some of the attacks were ineffective and failed to be executed well.

“When Kedah scored a goal in the first few minutes of the game, of course it changed the pattern of our game but we kept trying to find a goal, especially in the second half and we finally managed to get it at the end of the game,” he said.

In the match, Cameroon-born striker Ronald Ngah Wanja scored the home team’s goal in the fifth minute, but Sabah substitute player Muhammad Farhan Roslan equalised six minutes before the end of the match. – Bernama, August 18, 2022
