ISTANBUL – Brazil defeated South Korea 4-1 today and will face Croatia in the World Cup quarter-finals, Anadolu Agency reported.

The Seleção broke the deadlock at Stadium 974 in Doha, Qatar with a close-range finish from Vinicius Jr in the seventh minute, assisted by Raphinha.

After six minutes, Richarlison was brought down by Jung Woo-young and a penalty was awarded.

Neymar successfully converted the spot kick, calmly slotting it past South Korea goalkeeper Kim Seung-gyu.

In the 29th minute, Richarlison fired a left-footed shot from the centre of the penalty box to make the score 3-0.

Lucas Paqueta produced Brazil’s fourth goal after Vinicius Jr assisted him from the left side of the penalty area in the 36th minute.

South Korea scored a consolation goal when Paik Seung-ho thundered in a left foot shot from long range in the 76th minute.

With this result, Brazil will take on Croatia, who eliminated Japan 3-1 (1-1) on penalties.

The quarter-final clash will be played at Doha’s Education City Stadium on Friday. – Bernama, December 6, 2022
