KUALA LUMPUR – Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin paid an honorary visit to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at Perdana Putra, earlier today.
In the one-hour meeting with the prime minister, Hamidin shared the latest agenda for the direction of local footballing industry, especially the Harimau Malaya squad’s preparation for the AFF Cup semi-finals match against Thailand tomorrow at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium.
Hamidin also spoke about the national team’s preparation for the Asian Cup in January 2024, which they qualified for based on merit after 43 years, under the helm of head coach Kim Pan-gon.
“I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the prime minister for his willingness to spend time and discuss important agendas for the national football, especially important matches involving the national team, Harimau Malaya.
“This meeting is meaningful for us in planning the direction for the future of national football, particularly ahead of Harimau Malaya’s important match tomorrow.
“I also thank the prime minister for giving me the opportunity to share the vision and mission of FAM, F:30, as well as the construction development of FAM’s new headquarters and national training centre in Putrajaya,” said Hamidin in a statement.
Hamidin was also honoured that Anwar once served as culture, youth, and sports minister in 1983, who voiced his support for national football.
Hamidin was accompanied by FAM secretary-general Noor Azman Rahman, who informed the prime minister regarding the latest updates on women’s football, futsal, beach football and the development of referees. – The Vibes, January 6, 2023
