KUALA LUMPUR – The death of former Malaysian National Cycling Federation (MNCF) deputy president Datuk Naim Mohamad is a huge loss to the cycling community, said vice-president Datuk Amarjit Singh Gill.

When contacted, Amarjit described Naim as an individual devoted towards the development of cycling during his tenure in the institution.

“We are shocked to hear the news of the passing of Datuk Naim.

“He was a dedicated worker and gave his time and energy to the development of cycling during his tenure of office in MNCF since the 1980s.

“His passing is a great loss to the cycling community. He was a good advisor and always willing to help and assist wherever possible.

“He will be missed by all of us,” he said.

Naim’s passing was confirmed in a Facebook post by his daughter, Athirah Naim, who said her father died this morning at UITM Puncak Alam’s Al-Sultan Abdullah Hospital.

“It is with a heavy heart that I inform you of the death of my father Naim bin Mohamad this morning.

“The body will be taken to the Kota Damansara Mosque and buried at the Kota Damansara Islamic Cemetery Section 9,” read the post.

Naim served as secretary in MNCF during the leadership of Tan Sri Darshan Singh in 1988.

He then moved up to deputy president, which he held for over 10 years before stepping down in August 2016.

It was understood that the decision was made due to health issues. – The Vibes, May 12, 2023
