POLICE have detained five individuals to assist investigations into the death of a 54-year-old local man at a care home in Tanjung Rambutan near Ipoh.
Perak police chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin said those arrested comprised a caretaker and four residents of the care facility.
He said the arrests were made after preliminary police examinations found several injuries on the victim’s body.
Earlier, Tanjung Rambutan police station received information from Tanjung Rambutan Health Clinic at about 2pm on Tuesday regarding the incident.
"Police are currently conducting further investigations to determine the actual cause of the incident and the role of each individual involved.
"The case has been classified under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. A post-mortem examination will be conducted on Aug 5 to determine the actual cause of death," he said in a statement on Wednesday.
Police have advised the public not to speculate or spread unverified information regarding the case, as such actions could hinder the ongoing investigation. - August 5, 2026
