Japan donates another 1 mil AstraZeneca doses to Vietnam

HANOI – One million doses of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine donated by Japan are expected to be delivered to Vietnam on July 1 and 8, reported the Vietnam News Agency, quoting the Health Ministry yesterday.

With another million doses already delivered on June 16, Japan has presented a total of two million doses to Vietnam.

“Japan’s donation of vaccines to Vietnam is a testament to the profound friendship between the two countries,” said the Japanese embassy in Vietnam on Friday.

Vietnam today reported another 94 coronavirus infections, only one of which was imported, raising its tally to 16,507.

The Health Ministry said 62 cases are in Ho Chi Minh City, Phu Yen (21), Nghe An (4), and Bac Giang and Binh Dinh (3 each).

Eighty-seven infections were detected in quarantine areas or sealed-off sites.

The country has lost 80 lives to the disease, said the ministry. – AFP, June 30, 2021
