PETALING JAYA -– An AirAsia flight from Japan to Cebu City in the Philippines has been reported to have received a bomb threat on October 10.

Upon landing at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport, the plane was parked away from the main ramp for inspection.

No explosives were found and it is believed that all passengers deplaned soon after the inspection.

The matter came to light when a commercial pilot based in Cebu, Rafiul Ahmed Alvi, shared a video on his TikTok account.

The Airbus A320 was seen in the footage parked far away from other aircraft at the airport.

Just last week, all commercial airports in the Philippines, including the Mactan Airport, were placed on high alert following a bomb threat which was said to have been made via e-mail.

This was confirmed by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, as reported by the Inquirer.

Meanwhile, closer to home, a 30-year-old man was detained yesterday after he allegedly made a bomb threat on board a Scoot flight from Singapore to Perth, Australia.

The suspect, an Australian, was arrested for criminal intimidation, according to the Singapore Straits Times.

The plane departed Changi International Airport at 4.11pm yesterday but turned back after an hour due to the bomb threat.
