E-HAILING operator Maxim has positioned itself as a crucial transportation provider in secondary major townships across Malaysia, particularly in areas where good transportation services seem lacking.

With a presence in 70 townships throughout Malaysia, Maxim sets itself apart from other e-hailing services, simultaneously challenging its competitors in major cities.

Maxim Malaysia director Mohd Hazwan Musley said transportation issues are prevalent in such townships, which compounds the need for reliable services.

“In rural areas, transportation issues are prevalent, with many needing transportation due to poor road access.

“Our services now cover the entire peninsula, reaching as far as Langkawi, addressing the transportation needs of local communities.

“The company is also actively expanding its services to cover the entire Malaysia, particularly in rural areas such as Nabawan, Telupid, and Sandakan in Sabah,” said the 38-year-old Labuan native.

In Sabah for instance, he said challenges in rural areas are exacerbated by inadequate infrastructure, limited accessibility, and rugged terrain, hindering the seamless movement of people and goods.

Maxim's success in the region is attributed to its community-centric approach, engaging with riders and local businesses through various offers and benefits.

Mohd Hazwan said Maxim's efforts were also focused on providing employment opportunities in these areas where job opportunities are in short supply due to lack of economic activities.

In assisting them to start, be it as full-time or part-time partners, Maxim subsidised riders for obtaining PSV permits, and for extra income, they would engage their drivers in promotional works, he said.

Maxim does not only offer taxi services to commuters but also delivery services and cargo delivery services for any goods above 250kg to up to 1 ton at affordable rates.

He said such services help connect businesses to businesses when transporting goods between townships.

“In helping businesses grow, Maxim also extends support to local businesses through subsidising the cost for billboards and advertising, fostering a symbiotic relationship, in return for promoting the Maxim business to others,” he said.

Maxim's expansive coverage includes Sarawak, Sabah, and Peninsular Malaysia, reaching key locations in each region.

In Sarawak, these locations include Bandar Miri, Bintulu, Kuching, Sibu, and others.

Sabah's coverage spans Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan, Tawau, and numerous other towns.

Additionally, Maxim serves major urban centres across Peninsular Malaysia, such as Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, and Penang.

Mohd Hazwan highlighted the company's journey since its e-hailing services began in 2019, originating in Kuantan, Pahang, and subsequently expanding to cities and townships nationwide.

He said Maxim will continue to bridge transportation gaps in rural areas, which underscores the company's commitment to fostering economic growth and connectivity in underserved regions.  The Vibes, March 7, 2024
