KUALA LUMPUR – Positive passenger movement last month helped push Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd’s (MAHB) shares higher by 3.8% at 11am today.

Its shares increased 20 sen to RM5.50, with 741,000 units changing hands.

The airport operator yesterday said the introduction of seven new local flight routes boosted domestic passenger movement threefold in December from the previous month.

Group chief executive Datuk Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh said over one million passengers travelled domestically via MAHB’s network of 39 airports last month, in an encouraging sign of air travel recovery.

He added that AirAsia and Firefly made a strategic decision to provide new domestic routes in response to market demand shaped by Covid-19. – Bernama, January 13, 2021
