OPERATIONS at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) were not affected despite a cyber-attack on its computer systems.
Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) and the National Cyber Security Agency (Nacsa) in a joint statement said the attack was detected on March 23, prompting an immediate investigation.
“The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) was also notified.
“Operations at KLIA was not impacted, and will continue to monitor the situation and support Malaysia Airports,” Nacsa chief executive Ir Megat Zulhairy Megat Tajuddin said in the statement.

Megat Zulhairy also said that the agency has been closely monitoring the situation since receiving a report from MAHB.
MAHB managing director Datuk Mohd Izani Ghani also assured stakeholders that airport operations remain unaffected.
“We are working with our airport partners to ensure that flight operations and passenger processing continue to operate normally,” he said, adding that ensuring the safety, security, and integrity of airport systems remains its highest priority at this time.
Earlier today, Prime Minitser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim disclosed that MAHB was recently targeted by a cyberattack, during which hackers demanded a ransom of US$10 million.
However, Anwar swiftly rejected the ransom demand.
"When I was informed, I didn’t wait, within five seconds, I answered 'no' to the demands of the criminals."
He firmly stated that Malaysia could not afford to compromise its security by yielding to demands from criminals, whether domestic or foreign. – March 25, 2025
