THE Chinese woman who behaved aggressively by shouting at the International Departure Hall of Terminal 1 of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) here on Tuesday is suspected of being mentally ill.

KLIA District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner M Ravi said the incident occurred at 1.19 pm while waiting to board a flight back to China.

According to him, the 27-year-old woman shouted in a high pitch, ran, sang and danced to the point of disturbing other passengers around.

"The terminal security personnel who arrived at the scene to calm the situation took the woman to the Terminal 1 Police Station for further action.

"The results of the investigation found that the woman involved was scheduled to board a flight back to China on August 18 (Tuesday) after arriving in the country as a tourist with her friend on August 6," he said in a statement.

He said the woman was then taken to Kajang Hospital and placed in the Psychiatric Ward for further treatment.

He said the embassy had also been informed of the incident.

"The woman involved is suspected of being mentally ill and not a drug addict. She is in stable condition and is still receiving treatment at the hospital.

"According to her friend, the woman is said to have forgotten to take the medicine provided by the doctor," he said. – August 19, 2026
