KUALA LUMPUR – Bursa Malaysia rebounded from yesterday’s losses to open higher today as a spate of firm corporate results released on Tuesday provided positive market catalysts.

At 9.30am, the benchmark FBM-KLCI was at 1,576.04 up 10.99 points from 1,565.05 at closing yesterday.

The key index had earlier jumped 12.07 points to 1,577.12, after opening 5.96 points firmer at 1,571.01.

On the broader market, there were 372 gainers, 406 losers and 378 counters traded unchanged on the Bursa Malaysia.

The FBMACE was at 11,135.94 up 26.591 points, and the FBMEmas was at 11,603.09 up 52.28 points.

Turnover was at 2.496 billion shares valued at RM829.185 billion.

Meanwhile, the ringgit rebounded in early trade today as risk appetite for the local currency improved, thanks to the weaker greenback and firmer oil prices.

At 9am, the local currency rose to 4.0390/0420 against the US dollar, from yesterday’s close of 4.0420/0450. – Bernama, February 24, 2021
