GEORGE TOWN – China-headquartered DJI, a pioneer in civilian drones and creative camera technology, aims to have 10 authorised retail stores throughout Malaysia by the end of the year.

DJI general manager Johnny Liao said it has plans to open authorised stores in Johor Baru, Sabah, and Sarawak.

While DJI’s current retail market is centralised in the Malaysian capital, he said its goal is to expand its footprint by having at least one authorised retail store operating in every region in the peninsular, as well as in East Malaysia.

“Hence, we’ve decided to launch our new authorised retail store in Penang to reach out to potential customers in the northern region who want to try out our latest aerial platforms and camera technologies first-hand.

“Similarly, we are also looking into opening a retail store in Johor Baru to cater to potential customers in the southern region,” he said after the grand opening of its retail store in Gurney Plaza here today.

According to Liao, the launch of DJI’s retail store in Penang – its first retail store in the northern region – marks the fourth retail store opened this year.

The first three stores are located in Paradigm Mall, Sunway Pyramid, and IOI City Mall in the Klang Valley.

He said that its upcoming store would open its doors in Pavilion Mall, Kuala Lumpur, on June 28. – Bernama, March 28, 2021
