KUALA LUMPUR – The government has received allocation requests for RM900 billion under the 12th Malaysia Plan from the federal and state governments, and their agencies, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Economy) Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed.

He said this year alone, RM69 billion has already been allocated, with most of the fund channelled to the healthcare sector, including for the Covid-19 vaccination drive.

“Considering these requests (are coming) from every direction, we have to study (them) carefully as priority needs to be given to the healthcare sector.”

Asked about the challenges of foreign direct investments, Mustapa said the public has to be fair in making any assessment in any sector, including the economy.

“Fair means getting the numbers right. While we, as the government, admit that there are challenges, there are also upsides, and we’re doing well in some areas.” – Bernama, April 5, 2021
