KUALA LUMPUR – Former Retirement Fund (Inc), or KWAP, chief executive Syed Hamadah Syed Othman has been appointed as the new TH group managing director and chief executive.

His appointment, which takes effect tomorrow, was announced by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Mohd Na’im Mokhtar, TH said.

In a statement released by TH today, chairman Tan Sri Azman Mokhtar expressed his confidence that Syed Hamadah’s expertise and experience would enable TH to continue efforts to strengthen its administration and operations.

He also thanked Datuk Seri Amrin Awaluddin, Syed Hamadah’s predecessor who completed his two-year tenure in both positions, for his commitment and effort in spurring the management of haj activities, financial operations, and investments to ensure that TH remained competitive and sustainable. 

A well-known corporate figure, Syed Hamadah has over 25 years of experience as an expert in negotiations involving multinational and local organisations on the subjects of pensions, financing, pension funds, and mergers and acquisitions. 

He is a director and partner of Actuarial Partners Consulting Sdn Bhd, and has an honours degree in actuarial mathematics and statistics from Edinburgh’s Heriot-Watt University. He is also a fellow at the Actuarial Society of Malaysia. – Bernama, May 5, 2023
