KUALA LUMPUR – The Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force has agreed to the Education Ministry’s proposal for students sitting major examinations this year to be given priority when it comes to vaccination.
Minister Datuk Mohd Radzi Md Jidin said this follows the Drug Control Authority’s approval for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine to be used on children aged 12 and above.
“As for teachers, over 90,000 have received at least one vaccine dose. The ministry is committed to striving for the best,” he said on Facebook today.
He posted a video clip of National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme coordinating minister Khairy Jamaluddin explaining the matter during an online talk yesterday.
Khairy, who is also science, technology and innovation minister, said according to Education Ministry data, there are some 357,000 Form 5 students and 47,000 Form 5 teachers nationwide.
“Students sitting public exams really need to get back to school to prepare.
“We are working out something with the Education Ministry to focus on (vaccinating students in their) exam year first, as well as teachers and school support staff.” – Bernama, June 17, 2021
