SEREMBAN - Since the establishment of Matrix Concepts Holdings Berhad (MCHB) group 27 years ago, environmental sustainability has always been a priority and it has strived to create awareness among the community by prioritising a healthy lifestyle and maintaining a clean environment.
The recent Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Initiative programme organised by MCHB is among its efforts in helping to maintain environmental sustainability and balance through the conversion of food waste into Eco-Enzymes.
MCHB Group Chairman Datuk Mohamad Haslah Mohamad Amin, said they aim to maintain a perfect recycling system to increase awareness of employees, young people and stakeholders on environmental sustainability issues through several exercises.
These are aligned with their corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme which is targeted to benefit the local community.
"MCHB has continued its environmental sustainability programmes by recycling the disposal of food waste, vegetables and fruits through the use of eco-enzymes created through a fermentation process that is stored for three months.
"Eco-enzymes improve water quality by breaking down pollution and excess nutrients.
"In addition to improving water quality, eco-enzymes can be used for air and soil purification, environmental cleaning, personal hygiene, fertiliser, and medical applications," he said.
Mohamad Haslah said MCHB has prepared environmental sustainability programmes in several schools around Bandar Sri Sendayan and a total of 300 students who attended were selected as Environmental Ambassadors to increase understanding among friends, parents and the community.
"I believe this effort can change the habits and open the minds of our society by encouraging the disposal of food waste more responsibly and systematically," he said.
The programme held for the first time this year is known as the "Environmental Sustainability Programme 2023" which is this company's main pillar of corporate social responsibility.
Among the schools involved in this pilot programme are SJK(T) Bandar Sri Sendayan, SK Bandar Sri Sendayan, SJK(C) Bandar Sri Sendayan, SMK Felda Sendayan, SMK Seri Bandar Baru Sri Sendayan, SK Jimah Baru, SK Jimah Lama, SK Sendayan, SK Kg Tekir and Matrix Global Schools.
Mohamad Haslah added that MCHB will continue to take proactive steps to continue this effort by increasing the involvement of young people through the legacy of the eco-enzyme programme by cleaning several parks around Bandar Sri Sendayan. - The Vibes, October 21, 2023
