HOMEGROWN e-wallet Boost has introduced three new bill payment features to provide busy Malaysians with the ability to pay their bills with a tap of a button without the hassle of multiple payment platforms and portals. The new features – AutoBills, MultiBills and ViewBills – makes Boost the only e-wallet offering users a fuss-free solution to conveniently tap their bills away by managing, viewing, scheduling and making bill payments all from a single, centralised platform.

The new features are a timely addition as Malaysians continue to work-from-home (WFH) due to the ongoing pandemic. Boost reported that comparing the first half of 2021 to the same period in 2020, the Gross Transaction Value (GTV) of bill payments increased by 40%. The bill payment categories of telco postpaid as well as utilities saw the biggest leap in GTV at close to 60% and 50% respectively. These jumps in usage go in tandem with the growing WFH lifestyle and increased use of internet or data for work as well as study.

Of the three new features, AutoBills allow users to set automated recurring monthly payments. Users can set AutoBills in two ways – first by tapping on ‘Manage Recurring Payment’ via the ‘Bill Payments’ tile under the ‘Do More’ tab or through ‘Payment Settings’ on the profile page by tapping on ‘Manage Now’ under the ‘Recurring Payments’ section. Once set up, payments will be made automatically as scheduled without users even needing to open the Boost app. This feature solves the need of Malaysians forgetting to pay their bills.

MultiBills, on the other hand, allow users to pay multiple bills in one go. Think of it like adding all bills due into a shopping cart and paying them all easily with a single checkout. This feature helps solve paying bills one by one via multiple platforms. To make MultiBill payments, tap on ‘Make Bulk Payment’ button on the Bill Payments page and select the bills you’d like to pay.

Lastly, ViewBills consolidates all bills registered under the users’ bill account number directly in the Boost app. It helps to verify that users are paying for the right bill and view their latest outstanding bill statement details without the need to search or refer to it elsewhere.

Sheyantha Abeykoon, CEO of Boost said, “As most of the workforce has been working-from-home for almost a year and a half now, the lines of home and work life have blurred for many Malaysians. On top of work tasks and virtual meetings, managing household bills involving different service providers, due dates as well as payment portals can be stressful. We saw this as another area where we could come in and help make life easier for our more than 9 million users.

“Bill payments is a popular feature in the Boost app. Our users love it and this motivates us to continue innovating and enhancing Boost to become a one-stop centralized bill payments solution. These three new features are created to help provide busy Malaysians the ultimate convenience of managing and tapping their bills away within a single platform. This is part of our journey in building Boost to be an everyday toolkit making it #SenangJer for all Malaysians to better navigate a digital lifestyle,” added Sheyantha.

Currently, Boost has over 50 billers across water and electricity, telco prepaid and postpaid, internet, local councils, Astro, loans and hire purchase under its ‘Bill Payments’ offerings. The three new features build on its existing ‘Bill Reminder’ feature, which allows users to set a payment reminder for bills and automatically save favourite billers to help users avoid missing routine bill payments.

Boost is running a campaign until September 30 where users stand to win RM10,000 when spending a minimum of RM10 to pay bill using the AutoBills and/or Multibills features. Users will be able to also earn Boost coins with every transaction and the coins can be used to get more cashback from our BoostUp catalogue, which aims to help reduce users’ bill payments.
