THREE Malaysians were classified as “undesirable aliens” and have been blacklisted and banned from entering The Philippines.
According to reports by The Inquirer and The Philippine News Agency, the three demonstrated “rude and disrespectful behaviour” towards immigration officers.
The trio had arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport aboard a flight from Hong Kong last Friday night.
The Philippines Bureau of Immigration (BI) said immigration officers at the airport had then asked them for their return tickets, which they did not have.
According to the reports, while the immigration supervisors on duty were explaining why they needed to show their plane tickets, the passengers shouted expletives and refused to calm down.
Under existing rules, the bureau said foreign visitors must present their return tickets to immigration officers at ports. Failure to do so can be a ground to exclude them for being improperly documented aliens.
The trio were identified as Tan Hoong Kiat, 35, and his female companions, Lim Fong Teng, 31, and Khoo Seok Hun, 30.
“Foreigners who come here should accord respect and courtesy to persons of authority of their host country. Their stay here is a mere privilege and not a right, hence they should not malign and insult our immigration officers,” BI Chief Norman Tansingco said in a statement. – The Vibes, November 28, 2023
