TWO people can now experience new hope in their lives, thanks to the kindness of the late Selvaraju Shanmugam @ SS Raju.

The 83 years, nine-month-old octogenarian, the oldest organ donor in Sabah, donated a pair of corneas.

Sabah Health Department director Datuk Dr Asits Sanna in a statement said the donor died of heart complications.

“He was a loving husband and father and ever ready to help anyone in need.

“Though he was not a registered organ donor, he informed his family about his noble intentions.

“We express our deepest condolences and gratitude to the family for this great gift,” he said.

Before this, the oldest organ donor in Sabah was 80 years and two months’ old in 2018, while the youngest was a year and four months’ old in 2008.

“The state health department urges the public to register as organ donors through the MySejahtera app and inform their closest family members,” Sanna added. – The Vibes, December 1, 2023
