A WOMAN'S wish to help others by donating her corneas came true after her family agreed to allow the hospital to carry out a  procedure immediately after she passed away.

The victim, Darna Tajudin, 41, was confirmed dead at 8.37am yesterday at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Tawau Hospital after seven days of fighting for her life after being hit by a pickup truck driven by a man believed to be drunk while jogging on August 10.

Her sister, Sanni, 34, said that the deceased had expressed her desire to become an organ donor even though she had yet to officially register.

"In addition, she was also a staunch blood donor, very fond of helping others," she said when met at Tawau Hospital, as reported by Berita Harian.

The family also hopes the police will continue investigating the case and ensure the pick-up driver who hit Darna is brought to justice.

Darna was pronounced dead after being declared brain dead yesterday morning.

During the accident on Aug 10, Darna was jogging with her friends when a pick-up truck, driven by the suspected drunk driver, rear-ended a car.

As a result of the collision, the pick-up truck lost control, veered onto the roadside, and struck Darna. - August 18, 2025
