PERUSAHAAN Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (Perodua) has agreed to buy back the Perodua Bezza car that malfunctioned within eight hours after being collected by a clerk at full price.

Nagakanni Subramaniam said that with this decision, she no longer has to pay monthly for the car and would also get a full refund.

“Perodua also offered me to buy another Perodua with the same interest rate or reject this offer and just buy some other car,” she wrote on Facebook.

She said she needed to decide in seven days.

“Thank you Perodua for this decision and to everyone who helped me exercise my rights as a consumer,” she said.

It was earlier reported that Nagakanni’s brand-new car, a Perodua Bezza 1.3X, broke down just eight hours after she collected it.

Nagakanni, who spoke of her plight on Facebook, said it has now been two months since the incident and she has been paying RM537 monthly for the loan.

“I bought the car from Harapan Terang Motor Sdn Bhd on October 17, last year and eight hours later, at 7.40pm, the car could not start.

“The next day, my car was towed to the Segamat Perodua Service Centre,” she said.

She said she asked Perodua to replace her car with a new one but was told to wait for a decision from their headquarters which would take up to a month. – The Vibes, January 6, 2023
