THE ELDER sister of the late Mila Sharmila Samsusah, the 32-year-old woman whose partial skeleton was found yesterday after she went missing last month in Batu Pahat in Johor, has expressed disappointment with police investigations in the search.
A distraught Norhisham Samsusah, 36, shared her sadness at the discovery of the remains of Mila Sharmila, who was fondly known as Bella.
“Now after 38 days... What my family and I got… We only got a skeleton,” she said in a social media post.
She asked why the person suspected of abducting Bella was not questioned to the fullest while in remand.
“If we had known where Bella was hidden earlier, the family would have gotten her body not a skeleton.
“Even though her body would be lifeless, we could have still hugged and kissed her for the last time,” Norhisham said.
She disputed the police’s decision to release the individual who was believed to be the main suspect on the grounds that the man was suffering from three diseases.
She also said that Bella always shared everything. The last time they spoke was through a chat app at 11.38pm on December 14.
“Bella and I always shared what we wanted to do… Bella would not disappear just like that,” she said, adding that Bella had asked something during that chat before becoming silent.
She claimed that when she went to the police to report Bella’s disappearance, which is believed to have criminal elements and was not just a simple case of a missing person, she had found the officers to be less than cooperative.
Bella was reported missing on the night of December 14 after going to a laundromat.
The police reported yesterday that they found the skeleton, believed to be Bella’s, at a rented house in Kg Batu 7, Tongkang Pechah, an area in Batu Pahat.
It was reported that the partial skeleton was found there after the police were led to the spot by one of the suspects.
Meanwhile, Harian Metro reported that Bella had hinted to her aunt Napisah Salleh, 53, that someone had wanted to “get rid of her” by trying to hit her with a car at a dark lane.
This impression was given by Bella to Napisah about a week before her disappearance.
The Malay daily reported Norhisham as saying that their aunt had heard the words herself, but never thought they would come true.
Norhisham asked why the police did not take adequate action in the early stages.
“On the day of the discovery of the human skeleton, a policeman came to explain the find. He asked for two days for the DNA (test result).
“The police have already taken oral tissues from me and my mother (Noraini) for the test,” she added.
Meanwhile, Batu Pahat district police chief Ismail Dollah was reported as saying that so far three suspects have been arrested.
They include Bella’s boyfriend and his uncle.
An autopsy was carried out at the Forensic Department of Sultan Ismail Hospital (HSI) in Johor Baru this morning.
According to Ismail, the pathology samples from the department have been collected and sent to the Chemistry Department for DNA testing to identify the deceased. – The Vibes, January 21, 2024
