MOST of us have faced the dilemma of accidentally locking ourselves out of our homes or even losing our house keys.

In most cases, one would either look for the spares or if there are none, call for a locksmith.

However, in the case of Tammy Ng, whose electronic door lock malfunctioned, hiring a lorry crane to take her up to her apartment was the solution.

Ng, who lives on the fourth floor of an apartment block in Selangor said she returned home on Sunday and discovered her lock had malfunctioned and she had left her master key inside.

According to reports in The Straits Times (Singapore), she was informed that engaging a locksmith would cost her about RM800.

On top of that, she would probably have to replace her fire-rated door and the anti-theft electronic lock which could incur another RM3,000.

The 40-year-old getai artist said she was not willing to fork out that much and pondered her options.

She then noticed someone using a crane lorry to cut trees along the road near her apartment.

"They told me the crane rental would be RM500 which I thought was reasonable," she said, adding that she decided to hire it.
