SABAHANS will soon be able to get themselves medically screened for free under a new state government policy.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the state cabinet has decided to implement the service via the state’s Community Development and People’s Well-being Ministry.
“Initially, it will be implemented in 10 districts,” he said after the cabinet meeting at the Chief Minister’s Department in Menara Kinabalu, Kota Kinabalu today.
The service will be available via a mobile facility using a special van equipped with sophisticated medical equipment to reach the rural areas, he said.
Hajiji added that the cabinet also approved the setting up of the Sabah Logistics Council.
“The Sabah Logistics Council under the purview of the Works Ministry will look into the formulation of policies, management and monitoring of logistics issues in Sabah,” he said.
Hajiji said the cabinet, during its meeting, also agreed to allow the use of conventional building materials instead of just those having Industrialised Building System (IBS) approval for the construction of the Rumah Mesra SMJ project.
He said among reasons for the delay in completion of the Rumah Mesra SMJ is that the contractors could not take up the project using the IBS materials due to their cost.
“By relaxing the requirements, we hope the construction of Rumah Mesra SMJ will be faster,” he said, adding that the design of the residence will be maintained while using the new material.
The chief minister said the cabinet has also given the green light for the elevation of Paitan and Sook into full-fledged districts. – The Vibes, January 24, 2023
