TWO areas in the peninsula – Banting, Selangor and Rompin, Pahang – recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 9am today.

Based on data from the API management system operated by the Environment Department, Banting recorded a reading of 152 while Rompin registered 170.

Meanwhile, 35 areas recorded moderate API readings of 51-100, while 13 other locations logged good readings of below 50.

API readings of 0-50 are categorised as good, 51-100 (moderate), 101-200 (unhealthy), 201-300 (very unhealthy) and 300 and above (hazardous).

API data are issued hourly, based on readings at air quality monitoring stations across the country. – April 7, 2024.
