HULU Selangor Bersatu acting chief Khairul Azhari Saut is the Perikatan Nasional candidate for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election.

PN chairman Muhyiddin Yassin announced the news last night in Bandar Utama Batang Kali.

Khairul will take on Pakatan Harapan’s Pang Sock Tao, who is aide to Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming.

Though Muda and PSM have indicated an interest in running for the seat, they have yet to name their candidates.

Polling day is May 11. The by-election was called following the death of the assemblyman Lee Kee Hiong.

KKB is a mixed seat that is 50% Malay, 30% Chinese and 18% Indian.

The state seat has been represented by a Chinese assemblyman since 2004.

In the Selangor elections last year, Lee won the seat for DAP with a majority of 4,119 votes in a four-cornered fight. – April 26, 2024.
