3 killed as pickup truck crashes into road shoulder
Three people are killed when when a pick-up truck crashed into the road shoulder near Rumah Ngindang in Suah, Niah, near Miri, on Sunday.

THREE people were killed and four others injured when a pick-up truck crashed into the road shoulder near Rumah Ngindang in Suah, Niah, near Miri.

The dead are Evelyn Shely Mangie, 26; Eddy Indau, 26; and Jenging Tinsok, 39.

A toddler was among the wounded.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department said it received a distress call at 6.55pm on Sunday.

Upon arrival at the site, firemen found three men and four women.

Passers-by helped two of vicims out of the vehicle, while rescue workers extracted four from a ditch and one from the bushes.

The vicims who were alive were handed over to the paramedics for medical attention.

“The paramedics confirmed that three victims died and four others were injured,” a statement from the department said. – May 7, 2024
