JOHOR Darul Ta’zim (JDT) midfielder Safiq Rahim was the latest footballer to suffer an anonymous attack, after the acid attack on national winger Faisal Halim.

The 36-year-old footballer was attacked near the JDT training centre.

He posted a photo of his smashed vehicle and police report on his Instagram account last night.

“I did not expect to be attacked near the JDT training centre.

“(Times like these), we have to be careful,” he wrote in the caption.

According to Safiq’s police report, the incident happened at about 10.05pm yesterday after he had collected some belongings at the JDT training centre in Sri Gelam.

He said two men on a motorcycle came close to his car and that one of them took out a hammer and hammered his windscreen, causing it to crack.

“I was shocked and immediately stopped the car… both of them stopped in front of my car and showed the hammer to me and I quickly reversed the car.

“Soon after, both left the place and since the rear windscreen was broken, I lodged a police report,” he said in the report made at the Larkin police station.

Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat said the investigation was being carried out under Section 427 of the Penal Code for causing mischief.

The attack on Safiq comes days after national winger Faisal Halim, who is also known as Mickey, suffered an acid attack at a go-kart circuit in Klang Valley last Sunday (May 5).

Earlier, on May 2, national winger and Terengganu player Akhyar Rashid was assaulted and robbed near his residence in Kuala Terengganu. – May 8, 2024.
