We will not be intimidated. We will not be bought. And we will certainly not be silenced. - October 8, 2026

EARLIER this morning, The Vibes and our sister Malay news portal, Getaran, came under attack, taking our websites offline for several hours.

But we are back. And if anything, this attack has only strengthened our resolve.

Because when people go to such lengths to silence independent news, it tells us something important: we matter.

Honest, unsilenced real journalism is a threat to those who thrive on division, fear and ignorance.

They would rather people remain uninformed than be empowered to think for themselves.

But let me make one thing absolutely clear. Small minds and small people will never determine how we do the news.

I did not build these platforms to please the powerful, protect vested interests or become an echo chamber for anyone.

We built them because Malaysians deserve news without fear or favour, opinions that challenge conventional thinking, and honest debate that makes our democracy stronger.

To those responsible, you may have brought our websites down for a few hours, but you have not silenced a single voice.

To our readers, your continued trust and support remind us why we do what we do. This attack tells us we are making a difference.

Your support tells us we are getting it right. And frankly, that is all that matters to us.

We will strengthen our defences, redouble our efforts and continue to speak truth to power, whoever that power may be.

We will not be intimidated. We will not be bought. And we will certainly not be silenced.

Because delivering the news is not about keeping people comfortable. It is about keeping people informed.

And if the truth makes some people uncomfortable, perhaps it is time they asked themselves why. – October 8, 2026
