PERIKATAN Nasional will retain Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as its prime ministerial candidate in the next general election.

PN  information chief Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said the coalition remained confident the Pagoh MP was the best choice for the people.

“Till today, we still hear shouts of ‘Abah’ and we have seen the strength in Muhyiddin’s leadership.

“I am confident that if we continue our honest and hard work for the people, PN will be the victor,” he was quoted as saying by Sinar Harian.

PKR is reported to have begun preparing for a general election, with its president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as its prime ministerial candidate for a second term.

PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli had said that the party had launched two new frameworks to ensure Anwar remains prime minister after the polls.

Rafizi said the new frameworks are known as Pemerkasaan Organisasi Parti 25 tahun (Pop25) and Keadilan Menang Siri PRU16 (Kemas16).

Azmin, who is Selangor PN chairman, said that while were others in the coalition who had the capability to be the prime minister, Muhyiddin had proven to be most suitable for the top office.

“He is tested and proven to be successful,” Azmin said.

“That was why the grassroots did not agree when he wanted to give up his position in the party polls. His leadership was still needed.

“PN, especially Bersatu, has also begun discussions on the next leadership line-up. We are unlike other parties, whose leaders do not want to make way for others.” – May 10, 2024.
