DAP CHAIRMAN Lim Guan Eng has taken to social media to rubbish claims on WhatsApp that there is a rift between Prai assemblyman Datuk Seri S. Sundarajoo and himself.

“Do not believe in such slander and lies about Sundarajoo and me,” he said.

Lim said that Sundarajoo has confirmed that fake news is being spread by certain quarters out to cause division and thwart their efforts to serve the people of Penang.

“Such elements also consist of opportunists out to gain personal benefits. Action will be taken when we expose their identities later.”

Lim said that Sundarajoo, a former technocrat who was at the helm of a development firm, joined DAP and years later, he was proposed as the candidate for the Bagan Dalam state seat by the party leadership.

“But he sought to contest in the Prai seat. A decision which also received support from DAP leaders. The party made the right choice as in no less than two years, Sundarajoo had resolved the squatter issues in Kg Manis which was a longstanding problem.”

The affected residents received good news recently that they can relocate to their new homes within the next three years, said Lim, who is the Bagan MP.

“Fast action by Sundarajoo typifies a leader who is sincere in wanting to bring changes to the community he serves.”

Lim believed that the effort to split the party and good relations among leaders would not succeed, as DAP plans to stay united for the sake of the people, state and country.

Lim posted this message after attending a recent Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house hosted by Sundarajoo in his constituency.

Among those present were Penang DAP chairman Chow Kon Yeow, who is also the chief minister, and other state DAP leaders. – May 11, 2024.
