THE father of Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin, the autistic six-year-old boy who was murdered, today claimed the investigation against him and his wife were based on “all lies”, reports said.

Zaim Ikhwan said this as he was ushered into the magistrates’ court here, along with his wife, Ismanira Abdul Manaf. They were brought to the magistrates’ court by police who are seeking an extension of their remand.

Police had arrested the couple last Friday.

“I am being persecuted. All of these are lies,” he was heard saying.

His remarks sparked a commotion involving a group of 20 people believed to be the couple’s relatives.

The group had held up banners calling for justice for Zayn, as well as for Zaim and Ismanira.

Zayn was reported missing on December 5 last year. He was found dead about 200m from his home in Damansara Damai the next day.

The autopsy results reportedly revealed signs of self-defence wounds, while the cause of death was injuries to the neck believed to be caused by strangulation. – June 7, 2024.
