THE Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) has named Mohammad Faiz Azmi as its new chairman, taking over from the retiring Awang Adek Hussin.

Faiz, who is a current SC board member, will assume his new position on June 16.

Faiz, a former executive chairman of PwC Malaysia, has been a board member since Aug 15, 2023.

Awang, a former deputy finance minister retires, on June 15.

In a statement today, Awang thanked the government, including the Ministry of Finance, the capital market industry and various stakeholders for all their support during his tenure.

He hopes the same support will be extended to his successor.

The SC Board also expressed its gratitude to Awang for his invaluable contribution to the development of the Malaysian capital market. – June 13, 2024.
