INSPECTOR General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain has assured a transparent and fair investigation will be conducted into the murder of Nur Farah Kartini Abdullah.
"We will not protect the policeman if he is found guilty. Our stand is clear – your rank or stature does not matter.
"Police personnel who commit crimes will face justice for what they have done. Do not hope for our protection," he told The New Straits Times today.
He also reminded his personnel that they took an oath to serve the public and enforce the law.
"Remember this oath and know that your conduct represents the entire police force.
"We will not allow bad apples to tarnish the image of the police," he said.
It was earlier reported that the suspect remanded in connection with the murder of Nur Farah is a policeman.
Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the suspect had been identified as a policeman posted in Perak.
The suspect was remanded for seven days to assist the investigation into the murder of the victim, who was found dead in Kampung Sri Kledang, Hulu Selangor yesterday evening.
The remand order on the 26-year-old suspect was issued by sessions court judge Nurul Mardhiah Mohammed Redza to assist investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
The body of Nur Farah, 25, was found at about 6pm in the oil palm plantation.
Subsequently, police arrested the woman’s boyfriend to assist in the investigation.
Nur Farah, who was from Sarawak and a former student of Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, was last seen wearing a blue corporate blouse, headscarf and a pair of black pants.
Preliminary examinations confirmed that the body was of the victim who had been reported missing. – July 16, 2024
