PRIME Minister Anwar Ibrahim today dismissed a news report of a possible cabinet reshuffle soon.

He said he only got to know about the potential reshuffle after reading the news report.

“I just got to know (about the cabinet reshuffle). I’ve not heard (anything) about it.

“Who wants to help reshuffle the cabinet? Any volunteers?

“I’ve not heard about it… seriously. I’ve not,” Anwar, who is also the Pakatan Harapan chairman, told the media after an event at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

Earlier today, news portal Free Malaysia Today cited a PKR source as saying that a prominent minister from the party would either be moved to another ministry or dropped from the cabinet.

According to the report, the minister’s performance had been in question.

The source added that a menteri besar would be absorbed into the cabinet.

When asked to comment on the claim about the menteri besar being made a minister, Anwar responded by saying “After the next election, God willing.”

The news report, quoting another source, said the reshuffle could take place by the end of August, with a couple of deputy ministers set to be promoted to ministerial roles. – August 12, 2024.
