FORTY injured Palestinian civilians from Gaza left the Al Maza air base in Egypt last night for medical treatment in Malaysia, Bernama reports.

Two Royal Malaysian Air Force Airbus A-400M aircraft were deployed to fly the 40 wounded and 80 of their relatives from Cairo to Kuala Lumpur.

“Wishing them a safe trip to Malaysia,” Egyptian Ambassador to Malaysia Ragai Nasr said.

The planes are scheduled to arrive in Malaysia this morning.

The Palestinians who were wounded in the Gaza war were being treated in hospitals in Egypt for including bone injuries and burns.

Nasr said the patients will receive treatment at hospitals designated by Malaysia.

He added that Palestinians were selected for medical treatment in Malaysia under the direction of President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, following a request from Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

“This is a coordinated effort involving multiple entities working together to fulfil Prime Minister Anwar’s request,” he said, adding Egyot would continue to work with Malaysia to help the Palestinians.

“We will continue this assistance, whatever Malaysia asks of us in the future,“ he added.

Nasr said Egypt is housing more than 70,000 Palestinians in 40 hospitals.

The Hamas health authority said yesterday that since October 7, 40,005 Palestinians have died and 92,401 more have been injured in the Israel-Gaza war. – August 16, 2024.
