More international flights into Malaysia soon, says Tiong

PUTRAJAYA has secured new air links from various international destinations into Malaysia which is expected to bring more tourists into the country, Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said.

There will be more direct flights from overseas destinations to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Malacca, Sabah, Penang and Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Selangor.

Tiong said the pioneering flights will include Kenya-KLIA2, Singapore-Malacca, Ho Chi Minh City-Kota Kinabalu, Singapore-Subang, Shenzhen-Penang, Lucknow in India-KLIA, and also the return of British Airways from London to KLIA.

Tiong in announcing this in his social media updates said these new international flights will be operating before the end of the year.

He said Air Asia will also be operating new flights from several more cities in China, India and Indonesia into the key Malaysian airports.

"There will be 20 new routes that will be opened up in the coming months.

"These new routes will be exciting new tourism links for Malaysia with more international destinations.

"The Kenya-KLIA2 will be the first direct flight from Africa to Malaysia. The British Airways London-KLIA-London route is being reinstated after 11 years.

"These are expected to bring in more tourists to Malaysia," he said. - October 3, 2024
