SARAWAK DAP has confirmed it will field candidates against the Gabungan Parti Sarawak ruling government in the coming state election which is due in 2026 but expected to be held earlier.
The Sarawak DAP secretary’s office issued a statement saying the party will contest the state election and is training polling agents soon.
"In the interest of the rakyat and democratic principles, there is no question Sarawak DAP will contest in the coming state election.
“Serving the rakyat and protecting their rights and welfare are the foundation of the party," the statement said.
On Oct 5, it was reported that grassroots members of Sarawak DAP want the party to challenge Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP) in every state constituency the SUPP will be contesting in during the next state election.
SUPP is a component party of the state ruling GPS while Sarawak DAP is a component of Sarawak Pakatan Harapan.
Sarawak DAP Kuching members from the Arang Road Branch held a party meeting recently and passed a resolution calling for full-scale challenge against SUPP-GPS in the interest of the rakyat in this state. - November 24, 2024
