A SIX-year-old child died after reportedly getting trapped between the legs of a folding table while playing at her home in Taman Seri Putera in Nibong Tebal yesterday, reported Sinar Harian.

The victim, Nur Aqifah Humaira Abdullah, was said to be playing alone at the back of the townhouse rented by her mother when the incident occurred at about 4.15pm.

The victim's mother Riana Fitriasih Kusnan, 38, and siblings, who were inside the house only went to check after they did not hear any sound from the back of the house.

According to reports, Police received a call from the hospital regarding the death of the girl and rushed to the location.

Following this, a police forensics team and an investigation officer arrived at the scene to conduct an investigation.

A postmortem is expected to be carried out at the Parit Buntar Hospital in Perak.

Penang police chief Datuk Hamzah Ahmad confirmed the incident and said an investigation was being conducted under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001. - January 2, 2025
