THE government did not instruct the Attorney-General's Chambers (A-GC) to seek a gag order on public discussions regarding the addendum in Datuk Seri Najib Razak's house arrest appeal.

Unity government spokesman Fahmi Fadzil said the matter was not brought up during today’s Cabinet meeting.

“It was not discussed. The Cabinet did not instruct the AGC (to apply for the order),” he told a press conference here after today’s Cabinet meeting.

Fahmi said the cabinet had also not discussed the controversy over a ham and cheese sandwich that allegedly used the halal logo fraudulently.

“We weren’t served sandwiches today either,” he joked.

On another issue, Fahmi said the delay in the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) automated people mover system, known as the aerotrain, will not affect Malaysia's chairmanship of ASEAN this year.

He said that while the issue had not been tabled in a cabinet meeting, special arrangements were in place for official delegations.

"Dedicated facilities have been organised for official delegations, including seamless arrangements from the aircraft to their destinations, along with specialised services," he added.- January 15, 2025
