PRIME MINISTER Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has stressed the importance for Muslims to focus on building economic strength and mastering cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) and digital advancements, in order to thrive in an increasingly competitive and challenging global environment.

In a Facebook post last night, he highlighted that while embracing these technological advancements is crucial, it is equally important for Muslims to uphold human, moral, and compassionate values.

This balance between progress and values, he pointed out, is central to the MADANI concept.

The Prime Minister also reflected on a tausiah delivered by Sheikh Dr. Ekrima Sa'id Sabri, the Imam of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The lecture, titled "The Position of Al-Quds and al-Aqsa on the Side of Islam," shed light on the profound significance of the city of Al-Quds in Islamic history. Sheikh Ekrima spoke about the grandeur of Al-Quds, which has witnessed the divine events of Israk and Mikraj, the miraculous night journey and ascension of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Anwar also touched on the notable role of Caliph Umar Al-Khattab in the conquest of Jerusalem, emphasising his leadership and justice.

He praised Umar for the honor of liberating the city, which under his rule became a symbol of justice and peace.

The speech also highlighted the emotional moment when Bilal ibn Rabah, after five years since the Prophet’s death, called the adhan (the call to prayer) in Al-Quds, bringing back memories of the Prophet and stirring the hearts of those who had longed for his presence.

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister delivered a speech at the MADANI Knowledge Council in Putrajaya, alongside Sheikh Dr. Ekrima. Anwar also expressed his deep appreciation for Sheikh Ekrima's efforts in defending the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque and its rightful place in Islamic history.

Anwar reiterated the message he conveyed at the Intra-Islamic Dialogue Conference (IIDC) in Bahrain, urging Muslims to overcome internal divisions.

He reminded the gathering of scholars and leaders that disputes over minor issues must not overshadow the urgent need to unite and strengthen the ummah, as these internal rifts hinder collective progress and development. – February 25, 2025
