MALAYSIA is eyeing a big chunk of the 20 million plus European travellers who are clients of two German-based international travel agencies - TUI Group and TourAsia.

Federal Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing recently visited Berlin and secured an agreement with the two agencies to help market Malaysia's tourism attractions in Europe.

"We are collaborating with TUI Group and TourAsia to highlight our Malaysian attractions in European countries.

"TUI Group has a customer base of at least 20 million European tourists and business links.

"They have clients in the hotels and resorts industries as well those who travel in cruise ships and global airlines," he said in his media updates on his Berlin visit to participate in a global travel fair.

Tiong said these two travel groupings have more than 30 years’ experience in the global tourism sectors.

Their experience and expertise will go a long way in helping to promote Malaysia in European countries, said Tiong who is Member of Parliament for Bintulu.

Last year on Oct 8, Tiong visited France and found that French travelling overseas for holidays spent an estimated 300 million Euros (about RM 1.4 billion).

Malaysia is eyeing a big chunk of these tourism dollars from France, said Tiong who signed deals with two leading French travel companies - Asia Voyages and CFA Voyages - to help attract French travellers to come visit Malaysia.

"I have invited Asia Voyages and CFA Voyages to send their people to visit Malaysia.

"We want to let them see for themselves the many attractions our country and people have to offer.

"Asia Voyages have figures that showed the French travellers can generate total spending power of up to 300 million Euros in their annual holidays overseas," he said. – March 7, 2025
