YALA – Three Malaysian siblings, stranded in Thailand since last March following the closure of the Malaysia-Thai border due to the Covid-19 pandemic, are expected to return home tomorrow.
Muhammad Adam Danel Mohd Rozi, 11; his two younger brothers, seven-year-old Muhammad Arash Raihan and three-year-old Muhammad Muhaimin Putra, together with their Thai mother, Sakina Museh, 38, will enter Malaysia through the entry point at Sg Kolok-Rantau Panjang, in Kelantan.
“I am very grateful for the assistance by the consulate general of Malaysia in Songkhla and the Thai government for helping my family to return to Malaysia,” said Sakina.
Sakina said she took the children back with her to Thailand last March 16 to renew her visa as she had no one to leave the children with in Malaysia following the death of her husband, adding that two days later, the Malaysian government announced the movement control order and closed the border gates.
She said financial constraints also prevented her from returning to Malaysia earlier as they would have to bear the cost of undergoing the 14-day quarantine, as well as the Covid-19 screening.
Yesterday, a representative from the consulate-general of Malaysia in Songkhla, Sarizal Ramli, conveyed the good news to the three siblings and their mother.
Apart from that, he also handed over a Malaysian emergency certificate to the three siblings to facilitate their travel, besides some other contributions.
He said three siblings and their mother would be required to undergo the Covid-19 test and quarantine upon arrival in Malaysia. – Bernama, December 20, 2020
