THE Sungkei Perdana 2025 programme at Dataran Tun Tuanku Bujang Phase 1 in Sibu, Sarawak today was the liveliest ever - attended by more than 20,000 people.
The communal iftar programme, now in its seventh edition, was attended by people of various ethnicities who together enjoyed the breaking of fast in a harmonious atmosphere.
The Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development I, Datuk Dr Annuar Rapa'ee said this edition was the most vibrant.
"The initial expectation was around 20,000 people, but I think more than that attended, including those from Bintangor, Semop, Kuala Rajang, and Tanjung Manis."
"Everyone gathered this evening, including people of different ethnicities who joined in breaking of fast together."
"I would like to thank all the government agencies directly involved in ensuring our program ran smoothly this evening," he said.
The event was officiated by Dr. Annuar, while Minister of National Unity, Datuk Seri Aaron Ago Dagang, was also present.
The programme was first organised in 2015 at An-Nur Mosque and since 2017, it has become an eagerly awaited annual event for the residents of Sibu every Ramadan. – March 15, 2025
