THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is expected to continue calling Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob for questioning till the investigating officer is satisfied with his explanation.
According to reports in Berita Harian, a source revealed that the ninth prime minister is expected to be present at MACC till the anti-graft agency has enough evidence to wrap up his corruption and money laundering investigation.
The source said MACC has not yet decided when they will complete recording his statement as there were still many documents which needed to be scrutinised and verified.
"The process will depend also on Ismail Sabri cooperation tomorrow.
"He will be at the MACC headquarters for the fourth time tomorrow,".
He said the investigating officer will continue recording Ismail Sabri's statement till he is satisfied with the explanations and evidence.
A source revealed that the discovery of an unusually large sum of cash had prompted a more extensive review of the documents.
"This is one of the reasons why Ismail Sabri has been summoned for questioning over several days, as MACC officers need to examine hundreds of documents as part of the investigation. Among them are the asset declarations he recently submitted to MACC," the source added.
The probe is being conducted under the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009 and the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001. – March 16, 2025
