THE Sabah government has strongly denied allegations of misfeasance in public office following a lawsuit filed by the Sabah Forest Industries Sdn Bhd (In Liquidation), its receiver and manager.
State Attorney-General, Datuk Brenndon Keith Soh, confirmed that the government had received the Writ of Summons on March 17 from the law firm Chin Jingulam & Associates, which is representing the plaintiffs.
In a statement, he said the state would file its Memorandum of Appearance on Tuesday and described the lawsuit as "frivolous and vexatious."
"The Chief Minister of Sabah and the State Government unequivocally deny all allegations of misfeasance in public office," he said.
He added that the claims were baseless given the ongoing legal proceedings between the parties and that the government would present a comprehensive defence.
"We will vigorously resist these claims and will not allow these unfounded allegations to proceed unchallenged," he said.
The matter will now be heard in court, where the government expects a fair resolution. - March 17, 2025
