A 16-YEAR-OLD private school student pleaded guilty to possessing pornographic material on his cellphone when he was charged in the Kulai magistrate's court today.
The juvenile suspect, whose identity has been withheld, was charged with committing the offence under Section 292(a) of the Penal Code which carries a maximum three years jail term, fine or both upon conviction.
The first charge stated that the defendant was found to possess 14 indecent photographs and other pornographic content on his mobile phone at about 5.28pm on April 8.
The teenager is charged with generating explicit content involving a 17-year-old teenager by editing the victim's photo into a pornographic image, the following day (April 9) at 12.40pm.
For the second charge, the student pleaded not guilty to the charges under Section 5 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 for making, producing, directing the making or production of child sexual abuse material.
If convicted, the section provides for a sentence of good behavior bond, paying a fine, community service, being sent to an approved school or to Henry Gurney School.
Magistrate R. Salini allowed bail of RM4,000 and one surety for each offence and set June 23 for mention.
