A ROYAL Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) Hawk 208 light fighter jet reportedly skidded while landing at the Kepala Batas Air Base in Alor Setar, this evening.

The pilot was involved in a training exercise in conjunction with LIMA 2025 from May 20 to 24.

Following the 5pm incident, Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) issued a travel advisory.

"Alor Setar's Sultan Abdul Halim runway is currently closed to facilitate the removal of the RMAF aircraft and subsequent clearing works.

"A Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) has been issued and the closure is expected to continue till 10.30pm today," read the advisory.

During the closure, MAHB said all flight operations at AOR will be impacted.

Passengers including those travelling for Hajj are advised to check with their respective airlines or Lembaga Tabung Haji for the latest flight information.

MAHB said the airport will provide further updates once the runway is declared safe and open for flight operations by the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM). - May 6, 2025
