PKR Deputy President Nurul Izzah Anwar said she and her husband performed the Hajj pilgrimage in the Holy Land using their own savings.

In a post on her Facebook today,  Izzah announced that they performed the pilgrimage through a mujamalah visa.

"Many slanderous posts and messages were sent to me. When something is not true and spreads so far from the truth, then it needs to be corrected.

"Thank God, my husband and I had the opportunity to perform Hajj as guests of Allah SWT, through a mujamalah visa.

"Logistics, including accommodation and transportation, were arranged by a licensed travel agency, Mimm Travel. We flew commercial flights and used our own savings.

"There are no private jets as slandered. The journey was done just like millions of other pilgrims," she said.

Izzah also shared that in Madinah, they had the opportunity to attend a session with Sheikh Dr Omar Suleiman, Dr Tahir Wyatt and Ustaz Dr Mohd Amirul Hassan Ahmaf Tajuddin, describing it as a very touching experience.

"The most meaningful thing is being able to perform the Hajj with my husband, especially at Arafah, the place where Allah SWT revealed the 3rd Verse in Surah al-Maidah which tells us that Allah SWT has perfected our religion.

"We have different views and fights in the political arena, but do not let worship be used as a source of accusations and slander.

"Let us pray for each other, may Allah SWT grant sustenance and opportunities to more Muslims to be his guests - in conditions that are made easy, accepted by deeds and kept away from human slander," she said. – June 9, 2025
